The most popular beaches are located along Phuket’s west coast. The hotspot in town is Patong Beach. Spend the day lounging at Nai Harn Beach; the white sand coast is picture-perfect, and there’s plenty of restaurants and shops to explore. From Nai Harn, you’re just a quick drive away from the beaches of Ao Sane and Yanui, both of which offer excellent snorkeling. Away from the beach, the must-sees down south include: Black Rock Viewpoint, Phuket Art Village, Chalong Bay Rum Distillery and the island’s cultural landmark - the Big Buddha.
In East Phuket, the vibes are tranquil and quiet. The area doesn’t offer much in terms of activities or attractions, but the lack of tourist places only adds on to its appeal. The beaches of Ao Yon and Panwa, located in Cape Panwa are picture-perfect, and offer views out to Chalong Bay and Lone Island.
Cape Yamu is a private peninsula lying further up north on the east coast. There’s an air of exclusivity to the town; it’s a destination that draws in high-fliers and luxury vacationers, and boasts a private beach dotted with upscale estates and vacation rentals. While Cape Yamu Beach only allows private access, there’s the option of taking a longtail boat ride to Rang Yai Island for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling.
Venture northwards from Phuket and you’ll wind up in Natai. Located in Phang Nga Province, the region offers a lush landscape and diverse natural attractions, including forest parks, sea caves, waterfalls and more. And unlike the more popular beaches of Phuket, the postcard-pretty Natai Beach is quiet and unspoilt - a true beach paradise.
