Home to an abundance of <strong>secluded beaches, caves<\/strong>, and <strong>lagoons<\/strong>, a day trip to Phang Nga Bay is a must, in order to discover it\u2019s true natural beauty and to escape the crowds of the mainland. There are a variety of <strong>sailings tours<\/strong> for you to choose from that will usually provide you transport to and from where their boats are docked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"James_Bond_Island\"><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamesbondisland.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Bond Island<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/www.villa-phuket.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/James-Bond-Island.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:745px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the more famous landmarks and nature&#8217;s wonders in Phang Nga Bay, is <strong>James Bond Island<\/strong>. As suggested by the name, this is where the 1974 James Bond movie, &#8216;The Man with the Golden Gun\u2019, was filmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Distinctively very wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, James Bond Island is under national park protection, so it can only be admired from afar in a boat, or on the small beach found on <strong>Koh Ping Ghan<\/strong>. It will definitely leave you wondering how such a monstrosity manages to precariously stay in such a magnificently upright position amongst the more seemingly stable rock formations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"John_Grays_Sea_Canoe\"><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johngray-seacanoe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John Gray\u2019s Sea Canoe<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/www.villa-phuket.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Kayaking-Phuket-Phang-Nga-Bay.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:745px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Within <strong>Phang Nga<\/strong>, there are a number of <strong>sea kayaking<\/strong> and <strong>canoe tours<\/strong> available. However, the most exceptional experience is provided by <strong>John Gray&#8217;s Sea Canoe<\/strong>. On the &#8216;Day in the Islands&#8217; tour, you will explore at least three remote islands with John Gray&#8217;s experienced crew and guides to accompany you on this wondrous tour. A tasty traditional Thai meal is also provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a night tour, which is called \u2018Hong by Starlight\u2019. <em>The Guardian<\/em> has described it as \u201ca spiritual experience\u201d. Not only do you explore the caves (or \u2018<em>hongs<\/em>\u2019 as they are fondly called), but you also get to make and release your own \u2018<em>kratong<\/em>\u2019 (a candle with incense wrapped in banana leaves and flowers) as part of the Thai Water Festival, \u2018<em>Loi Krathong<\/em>\u2019. Watching your handmade candle bobbing along the water away from you in the dead of night, while surrounded by a blanket of stars above, is truly a magical experience. Worthy of being nature&#8217;s wonders!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bang_Pae_Waterfall\"><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com.sg\/ShowTopic-g293920-i5037-k4558397-Bang_pae_waterfall-Phuket.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bang Pae Waterfall<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/www.villa-phuket.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Bang-Pae-Waterfall.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:745px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bang Pae Waterfall is located very close to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gibbonproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre<\/strong><\/a>. The fee to this attraction is included in the park entry ticket. Therefore, whilst you are in the area, definitely go to this waterfall. However, be sure to do both the Bang Pae Waterfall and the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project on the same day. This is in order to avoid paying the admission fee twice, as you have to pay every time you enter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although not spectacular in height, the ten to fifteen minute climb through the jungle to the waterfall is breathtaking. Here, you can find a variety of <strong>flora and fauna<\/strong>. During high season, there will not be much water coming from the waterfall. Still, feel free to take a plunge in the clear pool of water below the waterfall as a refreshing dip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dining_Options\"><\/span>Dining Options<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On your way out of the waterfall and in need of something to eat, look out for the <strong>Thai restaurant<\/strong> called \u201c<strong>Bang Pae Seafood<\/strong>\u201d. It sits on the right-hand side of the pond. Relatively well hidden with only a small sign in Thai on the outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This restaurant has friendly staff that serves <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.villa-phuket.com\/magazine\/2015\/07\/go-local-best-street-eats-in-phuket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">local treats <\/a>and specialties<\/strong> true to its authentic taste. Also, a variety of <strong>seafood<\/strong> is available and ready to serve to the utmost perfection. Although a very basic restaurant in itself, the setting is beautiful. Perfect for a laid back lunch, as it is on the edge of the mangroves.
